MARKEM Community

MARKEM: A Community Leader Year After Year

MARKEM is headquartered the Monadnock Region, which has continuously been a trend setter for the United Way Program. Year after year our employee caring and giving raise the bar for every company in the area. MARKEM loans its executives to the annual United Way Campaign, and matches dollar for dollar every employee contribution. Our outstanding record of volunteerism and personal involvement is second to none.

The Embrace of Science and Technology in Our Schools

A symbiotic relationship exists between MARKEM's technology community and our local schools. Company engineers have supported the FIRST Program, a national robotics competition pitting student-constructed robots against one another. Our mechanical and electrical engineering experience, combined with the youthful enthusiasm and active participation of our local teens, has garnered amazing results in the national competition!

Higher Education: The Give and the Take

Scores of employees pursue education opportunities at Keene State College and Franklin Pierce College. These Keene campuses are just minutes from our own. We not only take, but we give: several employees serve as adjunct instructors in such disciplines as software and electrical engineering.

MARKEM Corporation was the primary contributor to the Putnam Theater at Keene State. This state-of-the-art movie theater serves not only students and professors in their regular coursework, but also the community at large through unusual motion picture series unavailable in the typical cineplex.

Preserving Art and Its Place

Our employees and the corporation drove forward, and continue to support, the spectacular remodeling of Keene's Colonial Theater on Main Street downtown. Internationally known vocal artists, dance companies, children's programs, jazz and more, bring enjoyment to our city, and pride to our MARKEM employees who know the role our corporation plays behind the scenes at the Colonial.

Nearby Keene State College's Thorne-Sagendorf Art Gallery is a first-rate venue for exhibiting art from around the world, our own country, and campus. MARKEM was a major contributor to its recent reconstruction and re-siting on college grounds.
