The 4407 ink series is a two part liquid epoxy ink for application by all pad printers onto surfaces including conventional and most low stress molding compounds, nylon, plastics, glass, ceramic, steel, and aluminum. * MAY CONTAIN RESIDUAL ISOCYANATE MONOMER
Cure Property: two part
Thinner: WB
Cleaner: 320
Remover: 500
Accessory Chemicals:
The addition of thinner may be required to maintain a viscosity appropriate for the application method. Approximately 2 cc every 100 minutes or 4000 prints should maintain the ink's viscosity. The viscosity range for printing this ink is dependent upon the ink's solvents, machine speed, plate etch depth, plate etch line widths, temperature, humidity, substrate, and transfer pad. For open reservoir pad printing systems, small amounts of XD thinner can be added as needed to retard drying. The pot life of this ink is 24 hours minimum. The cleaner is recommended for removing ink from the printing equipment. Cured marks can be removed by immersion into the heated print remover (70 to 80°C). Rinse with hot water. The soaking time is substrate dependent, with porous materials requiring longer soaking times and/or brushing to strip prints.
Drying / Curing: This ink is fast drying and dries to the touch within 10 seconds. The actual drying time depends upon the substrate material being printed, the ink film thickness, and the ambient conditions. This ink will cure at 85°C for 30 minutes or ambient cure for 2 days. 4407 has been developed to provide mark permanence in applications that require low or ambient temperature cure. The curing time begins once the substrate has reached the curing temperature. Substrate material, ink thickness, and oven temperature will affect the curing time. An industrial oven with forced vented air is recommended.
Technical Data: This ink is sold in premeasured units with each unit consisting of an A package and a B package. When the entire B package is mixed into the entire A package in its container, the mixing ratio is maintained. Other quantities can be mixed using a mixing ratio of 5:1 (A:B) by weight for all colors.
Cured prints of inks in this series have shown good resistance to the following conditions after application in accordance with MARKEM's recommended procedures:
> solvents, including methanol, ethanol, and those specified in MIL-STD-883 Method 2015 and MIL-STD-202 Method 215.
> tape pull and thumbnail scratching (substrate dependent).
> salt spray (20% solution) for 48 hours.
>118° for 24 hours.
> abrasion (film thickness dependent).
> Requirements of MIL-I-43553B or A-A-56032 (See MARKEM Standard Ink Spec)
Shelf Life: The shelf life for this ink series is one year from the date of shipment or two years from the date of manufacture, whichever is less.
Optimum storage condition is at 5-10°C in the original unopened container. Allow ink to warm gradually to room temperature before use.
