Series 4460 Ink

General Description

The 4460 ink series is an epoxy based UV curing ink for application by pad printers onto ceramic and plastics.

Cure Property: UV cure

Thinner: Q

Cleaner: 320

Remover: 500

Accessory Chemicals:
The periodic addition of thinner is required to maintain a viscosity appropriate for the application method. The cleaner is recommended for removing ink from the printing equipment. Cured marks can be removed by immersion into the heated print remover (70 to 80°). Rinse with hot water. The soaking time is substrate dependent, with porous materials requiring longer soaking times and/or brushing to strip prints.

Drying / Curing: This ink will remain "wet" until cured by exposure to high intensity UV light. Curing requires 2 to 3 seconds of exposure to a lamp radiating a minimum of 1200 total watts in the 250 to 350 nanometer range of the UV spectrum. MARKEM recommends microwave activated mercury vapor lamps because a constant power output is maintained throughout the lamp's life. The ink film thickness should be carefully controlled to ensure that the UV radiation can penetrate and cure the entire film. The prints should travel parallel to the UV lamp and be at the lamp's focal point.

Technical Data: • Cured prints of inks in this series have shown good resistance to the following conditions after application in accordance with MARKEM's recommended procedures:
> solvents, including those specified in MIL-STD-883 Method 2015 and MIL-STD-202 Method 215 (Revision current at the time of testing).

Shelf Life: The shelf life for this ink series is six months from the date of shipment or twelve months from the date of manufacture, whichever is less.

Optimum storage condition is at 5-10°C in the original unopened container. Allow ink to warm gradually to room temperature before use.
